A Journey Through Memory and Loss

The Last Summer Play Reading is an evocative theatrical project that delves deep into the complexities of human connection, grief, and the paths not taken. The narrative follows Anna, a seventy-year-old woman, who returns to her brother's former home only to discover his skeletal remains. This discovery forces her to confront her own impending solitude. Through a blend of poignant monologues and intricate dialogue, the play navigates the blurred lines between memory and reality, childhood innocence, and the eventual necessity of saying goodbye.

Creative Team and Vision

Written by Chan Kwan-yi and directed by Li Yuk-hang, this project brings together a talented cast including Tsang Hin-wai, Yim Chor-kiu, Lam Ka-ting, Luk Kam-fai, and Lam Kei-chun. The play explores how one death can act as a catalyst for another's emotional awakening. It questions whether Anna can ever reach the "truth" when her own life feels like a reflection of another's—her doppelgänger, also named Anna.

The Cycle of Farewells

The narrative is structured around recurring cycles of summer, marking pivotal moments in the protagonists' lives: the first, second, and final farewells between siblings. This play reading invites the audience to bear witness to these intimate stages of life.

Tickets are available via Art-mate. Please note that there is a dedicated ticketing period running from June 3, 2026, to June 20, 2026. Interested audience members are encouraged to secure their spots early to experience this intimate exploration of family dynamics and the passage of time. The project is organised by 膠紙座, a group dedicated to bringing unique theatrical experiences to local audiences.
