Highlights

As a partner program for the Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo 2026, this concert features the Hong Kong Sinfonietta led by Laureate Music Director Yip Wing-sie. The performance highlights a unique collaboration between renowned Sheng soloist Loo Sze-wang and the esteemed Cong Quartet, promising a vibrant auditory experience that bridges contemporary compositions and classical masterpieces.

Program

The concert opens with the world premiere of the Sheng Concerto 'Beyond the Horizon' by Fung Lam, composed specifically for Loo Sze-wang. Inspired by the concept of the 'horizon', the work invites listeners to explore the boundaries of human perception and the vastness of the universe. Following this, the Cong Quartet makes its debut with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta to perform Lee's 'Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra'. The program concludes with Dvořák’s celebrated Symphony No. 8, showcasing the orchestra's expressive range and dynamic energy.
