The 9th Hong Kong International Egyptian Dance Festival 2026 brings world-class Egyptian dance masters to Hong Kong for a series of high-level professional workshops. Featuring renowned instructors, including former director of the Egyptian National Folk Dance Troupe (Kaumeya) Osama Emam, and the legendary Egyptian dancer Lubna Emam, this event offers an unparalleled opportunity to master authentic Egyptian dance techniques and theories.

Program

The workshop series covers five distinct themes, designed to deepen participants' understanding of both traditional and contemporary Egyptian dance:

• Workshop 1: Classic Shaabi - Led by Osama Emam, focusing on the essence of Egyptian folk dance.
• Workshop 2: Awalim Style, Candelabra & Finger Cymbals - Led by Lubna Emam, exploring ancient female performance styles and prop usage.
• Workshop 3: Oriental - Led by Lubna Emam, covering the elegance and technical aspects of classical Oriental dance.
• Workshop 4: Banat Sinai - Led by Osama Emam, diving into the unique folklore and dance steps of the Sinai Peninsula.
• Workshop 5: Melaya Balady Style - Led by Lubna Emam, interpreting the iconic Egyptian Melaya Balady style.

Performers

• Osama Emam: Honorary Advisor and former Director of the Kaumeya Egyptian National Folk Dance Troupe.
• Lubna Emam: A legendary figure in Egyptian dance, former principal dancer and choreographer for the Kaumeya troupe, and a mentor to numerous international dance stars.

Venue & Access
