Overview
Children in Hong Kong spend a significant portion of their time at school, making educational institutions vital spaces for social development and personal growth. To combat child abuse and build safer learning environments, Plan International Hong Kong, supported by the Simon K.Y. Lee Foundation, launched the 'Child-Safe School' Support and Recognition Scheme. This exhibition showcases the achievements of 117 partner kindergartens and raises public awareness regarding child protection.
Highlights
The exhibition is designed around the concept of a 'Safe School Garden,' offering various interactive experiences to help the public understand the importance of child protection:
- Child-Safe School Achievements: Explore how participating schools implement policies, staff training, and safeguarding mechanisms to create a secure environment.
- 'Guardian Seed Stamp' Hunt: Collect stamps hidden throughout the exhibition, answer questions, and win prizes such as body painting vouchers, limited-edition film cameras, and toys.
- 'Little Pig, Any Questions?' Immersive Storytelling: Join our lively clown in a theatrical experience that teaches children how to say 'no' when faced with danger.
- 'Little Voices' Performances: Enjoy heartwarming performances by children.
- Educational Booth Games: Participate in games designed by kindergartens to help children learn self-protection skills in a fun, relaxed way.
- Reading Corner: A cozy space for families to explore a curated collection of picture books focused on child rights and self-protection.
About the Scheme
Despite ongoing efforts, child abuse remains a pressing concern. This scheme provides one-on-one professional consultancy to help schools establish effective prevention mechanisms. Over the past two years, the initiative has served over 24,000 participants, including children, parents, and staff. An award ceremony will be held on the first day (October 2nd) to honor the efforts of participating schools. Celebrity ambassadors Kathy Yuen, Snow Suen, and Ho Kei-yau will join us to share their insights as parents and emphasize the collective responsibility of protecting our children.
