Part of the 'JC ICH Education Programme', this workshop explores Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage. Hong Kong’s name is rooted in its history of incense trade, while the annual Tai Hang Fire Dragon dance symbolizes the community's prayers for safety and health. This workshop provides an immersive experience where participants will learn about the history of incense culture in relation to the Fire Dragon tradition and engage in the craft of traditional incense making.
Program
Tai Hang Fire Dragon is a century-old tradition deeply connected to local faith and celebrations. Instructor Wong Tsz-chung, founder of the brand 'Cixin' (Hong Kong Incense), will share his insights into how incense culture is interwoven with this Fire Dragon tradition. Participants will go from smelling the materials to crafting their own incense sticks, experiencing the delicate details of this ancient craft firsthand.

Important Notes
- Suitable for participants aged 14 and above.
- Not recommended for pregnant women or individuals with G6PD deficiency.
- Photography and videography will occur during the event for archival and promotional purposes. The organizer will try to focus on participants' backs; absence of a written objection before the event implies consent.
- Adverse Weather: If a Typhoon Signal No. 8 (or above) or a Red/Black Rainstorm Warning is issued (or forecasted) two hours before the event, the session will be postponed or cancelled.
About the JC ICH Education Programme
Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organized by the Hong Kong Culture and Heritage Resource Centre, this programme aims to promote the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage items, such as the Cheung Chau Bun Festival and the Tai Hang Fire Dragon, by encouraging public engagement and intergenerational transmission.
