Overview
Presented by Musicus Society and curated by Artistic Director Trey Lee, 'Echoes of the Harvest' is a heritage concert supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant. The event takes place at the Law Ting Pong Scout Centre, a Grade I historic building in Tai Po—formerly the North District Magistracy. This concert infuses classical music into the red-brick walls of this century-old monument, creating a dialogue between music, history, and time.
Highlights
More than just a concert, this event offers a deep dive into cultural history. The repertoire has been carefully curated to reflect the connection between music and the land, featuring Tchaikovsky's 'The Seasons', Dvořák's String Quintet No. 3 ('American'), and Bartók's 'Romanian Folk Dances'. In addition to the music, the event features a collaboration with 'Earth Gives Me,' showcasing local rice varieties and stalks, allowing the audience to appreciate the agricultural heritage of Tai Po while enjoying high-caliber string performances.
Performers
Curated by Musicus Society Artistic Director and cellist Trey Lee, the concert features former Concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic, Fédor Roudine, leading a group of six talented young local string players in a vibrant chamber music performance.
