Overview

The i-Experiment "Battle" Dance Floor is a highlight of the i-Dance Festival (HK) 2026. Going beyond traditional street dance competitions, this event serves as a cutting-edge experiment in movement, focusing on the five senses to challenge the improvisational and creative capabilities of dancers.

Highlights

Unlike standard dance battles, participants must tackle a series of spontaneous tasks, responding to inputs such as sound, touch, textures, space, and materials. The live music elements will transcend conventional beats, potentially incorporating environmental noise, spoken word, or even silence. Dancers must rely on their physical instincts to interpret and combat these sounds, creating unique, in-the-moment responses.

Awards and Judging

Awards include the Champion and the Audience Favorite. The Champion will receive HKD 800 in cash, a 30-hour workshop pass, an i-Dance Festival all-access pass, and 10 hours of studio time. The Audience Favorite will receive HKD 500 in cash, an all-access pass, and 8 hours of studio time. The esteemed jury panel features renowned choreographer Helen Lai, veteran street dance instructor Siu Sei, and Y-Space/i-Dance Festival Artistic Director Victor Ma.
