York 'In the Gaps of the Sea' Comic Manuscript Exhibition

Highlights

Centered around York's first independent comic, 'In the Gaps of the Sea,' this exhibition transports visitors to the fictional, ocean-surrounded world of 'Jian Dao.' The showcase features original comic manuscripts, concept art, discarded drafts, and previously unpublished illustrations, inviting attendees to explore the island's unique settings, from sea glass and floating light ridges to the mysterious blue caves and hidden springs embedded in the rocks.

Program

The exhibition chronicles a journey of returning home, navigating tides, starlight, and the complex path of self-discovery. Through the narrative of the protagonist, Kobayashi, who returns to their hometown triggered by a mysterious diary, the exhibition bridges the gap between familiar scenery and the discovery of one's inner self. In addition to the artwork, comic books and related merchandise will be available for purchase, including the debut of the 2027 calendar.
