Overview

Join us for "Fun with Tiles: Paper Tile Craft Experience and Community Exploration," a special partner program for Muse Fest HK 2026. Paper tiles (mosaic tiles) were once a defining feature of Hong Kong’s post-war public housing, residential buildings, and public spaces. With their varied colors and arrangements, they form a unique urban landscape that holds significant cultural memories for many Hongkongers.

Highlights

This event invites you to appreciate architectural aesthetics through both craft and exploration. Facilitated by the "Walking Slow" team, participants will gather at the historic Mei Ho House to engage in a hands-on workshop, crafting a unique wooden tray inlaid with these nostalgic tiles. Beyond the craft, the program includes a guided neighborhood walk around Mei Ho House. You will be encouraged to spot various paper tiles hidden in local buildings, observe architectural details from different eras, and uncover the community stories behind these humble building materials.

Target Audience

The event is open to participants aged 12 and above. Capacity is limited to 10 people, available on a first-come, first-served basis. This program is also part of the "Heritage of Mei Ho House Alumni Network" activities, perfect for those with an interest in architectural history, local community culture, and DIY crafts.

Venue & Access

The event will take place at the "YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel Multi-purpose Room." You can reach the venue by MTR: exit at Sham Shui Po Station (Exit B2) and walk along Pei Ho Street for about 8 minutes, or exit at Shek Kip Mei Station (Exit A) and walk along Woh Chai Street for about 8 minutes.
