Dancing with Nature - Ecological Performance Art Experience【i-Dance Festival (HK) 2026】

Program Overview

This workshop series, led by Melina Scialom, is a core component of her non-anthropocentric environmental dance practice, seeking to foster non-dualistic and creative interactions between human and non-human communities. The curriculum is rooted in the principles of somatics, environmental dance, and Butoh, guiding participants to explore deep connections between the human body and the natural environment through attunement and movement.

Highlights

As an ecosomatic and site-specific dance activity, the sessions take place outdoors in Mui Wo, fostering a deep, relational engagement with elements present in the natural setting. Through embodied practices, participants are encouraged to challenge conventional notions of dance and performance, cultivating presence, relationality, and shared agency with the environment. The workshop itself serves as a performative event, encouraging a practice of dancing together—where people and the environment intersect.
