Event Overview
The 'Ceramic Voices of the Dragon Kiln' exhibition will be held from December 4-6, 2026, at the Exhibition Hall of Block F, Jao Tsung-I Academy. As a highlight of the biennial 'Local Ceramics' event, this exhibition brings together approximately 40 local and international ceramic artists. Through contemporary ceramic creations, they engage in a cross-generational dialogue with the 'Castle Peak Dragon Kiln,' a third-grade historic building built in the 1940s and the only one of its kind surviving in Hong Kong. The exhibition aims to re-examine the cultural value of this historic landmark through an artistic lens, sparking deep reflection on local pottery history and contemporary practice.
Highlights
- Connecting History with Contemporary Art: Artists interpret the Dragon Kiln through diverse perspectives, including material, fire, craftsmanship, sense of place, memory, and community experience.
- Star-studded Lineup: The exhibition features renowned ceramicists such as Yin Cheuk-hin, Yin Lai-kuen, Annie Wan, and Chan Yuk-keung, showcasing the vibrancy of the Hong Kong ceramic scene.
- Charity and Heritage: The exhibition doubles as a fundraising initiative, with proceeds supporting the 'Hong Kong Dragon Kiln Concern Group' and 'Ceramics Collab HK' in their ongoing efforts to preserve the kiln, provide community education, and promote ceramic arts.
