The Asiartic Camerata invites you to a concert that presents a dialogue across time, geography, and personal history. This performance features two works separated by over a century, yet bound by a shared geography of the heart.
Program
- Alexander Borodin: String Quartet No. 2 in D Major: Composed in 1881 as a gift for his wife, Ekaterina Protopopova, this quartet is a musical memoir of their early life together. Its famous 'Notturno' movement captures a sense of enduring affection and remains a cornerstone of chamber music.
- Carlos Brito Dias: "cuevas" for String Quartet (Asian Premiere): Commissioned by FIMSAL, this work is a sonic architecture inspired by the tranquil ambience and resonant acoustics of the Caves of Sorbas in Spain. It is a deeply personal dedication to the composer's wife, interlacing thematic nods to Borodin's quartet to bridge the landscapes of Heidelberg with ancient Spanish caves.
Highlights
This performance serves as a recreation of the work's foundational experience, where the soloist "transports" the audience to the primal, subterranean atmosphere of Almería. By bringing these two worlds to the Fringe Club, the ensemble creates a sensory counterpoint where the concert hall becomes a living dialogue between European heritage and the earth's hidden spaces.
