Overview
'Late Summer' is a poignant staged reading exploring themes of farewell, memory, and the choices that define a life. The narrative centers on 70-year-old Anna, who returns to the childhood home where her brother lived alone, only to discover his remains. This profound shock prompts her to reflect on her own path and the inevitability of aging in solitude. Through the lens of childhood innocence and memories of her brother, Anna weaves together fragments of her existence, blurring the lines between reality and recollection. A mysterious character named 'Anna,' who mirrors the protagonist's experiences, appears as both a double and a manifestation of her own unspoken possibilities.
Through an intimate blend of monologue and dialogue, the play traverses time—from the teenage Anna leaving home for the first time, to the young adult traveling abroad with her brother, and finally to the bittersweet final farewell in her later years. It is a contemplative journey toward uncovering the truth of one's identity.
