An Artistic Dialogue: Humans and Objects

Non-Routine (《非日常》) is an evocative duet dance performance choreographed and performed by Zhang Yutong and Li Tuokun. This work emerged from two years of dedicated movement exploration, carrying the artistic imprints from tours across 11 international dance festivals in Asia and Europe. The performance invites the audience to observe the boundary between humans and the mundane objects that surround them—such as a chair, a feather duster, or a jacket. By deconstructing the daily order and re-interpreting spatial narratives, the dancers transform these ordinary items into extensions of their own bodies, challenging our perception of existence and the spirit of everyday life.

Journey and Artistic Vision

The project delves into the intricate connections between people and things. It asks the audience to consider: Are we masters of our objects, or are they masters of us? Through the collaborative efforts of Zhang and Li, the performance seeks to open a small, whimsical, and thought-provoking world where the ordinary is transformed into something inherently poetic.
