#DANCELESS Choreography Platform - 'Pulse, Spin, Breath'

Overview

'Pulse, Spin, Breath' is a highlight of the 2026 '#DANCELESS Choreography Platform', presented by Unlock Dancing Plaza. This collaborative project features three distinct performers: resident artist Zhang Weiyan, emerging choreographer Chu Chin-ching, and street dance artist Ho Tsz-kwan. The performers expand on their ongoing research and artistic development to offer a profound dialogue on the body and consciousness.

Highlights

• Zhang Weiyan - 'In the Spin': Combining pole dancing with contemporary movement, Zhang explores the history and cultural stigmatization of pole dancing, examining its shift from strip clubs to global fitness trends.
• Ho Tsz-kwan - 'Echoes of the Moment': A work focused on breath and bodily awareness, investigating how the body carries memory and the shifting gaze between the dancer and the audience.
• Chu Chin-ching - 'Fixed-Image Shift': Referencing the 'Femme Fatale' archetype in popular cinema, the work uses repetition and distortion to deconstruct the objectified female image and reclaim subjectivity.

Performances will be held at the 'The Jockey Club East Kowloon Cultural Centre, The Studio'. Please note the performance contains partial nudity and is conducted in Cantonese and English.
