The 5th International Conducting Competition for Chinese Orchestral Music - Final Concert

Overview

The International Conducting Competition for Chinese Orchestral Music, organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, is dedicated to cultivating exceptional new talent in the field. This fifth edition of the competition is held in collaboration with the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra. While the preliminary and semi-final rounds took place in Wuxi, where contestants engaged in cultural exchanges, the grand final will be held in Hong Kong. The three finalists will showcase their musical interpretation and leadership skills through their performance with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.

Program

Finalists will conduct the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra in the following pieces:

• "Da De Sheng" (Shanxi folk wind and percussion music, arranged by Zhang Shiye)
• "Qiushan Wendao" (from the 4th movement of "Reminiscences of the Fuchun Mountains", composed by Liu Yuan and Jiang Ying)
• "Symphony No. 2" for large Chinese orchestra and organ (excerpts, composed by Kuan Nai-chung)
