
Marvelous Intangible Cultural Heritage: A Great Adventure by Land, Sea, and Air
Organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and planned by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office, this series of workshops at Tseung Kwan O Plaza on June 27-28 offers hands-on experiences in traditional crafts including jewelry making, net weaving, wood carving, mahjong tile carving, and sugar blowing.

Highlights
'Marvelous Intangible Cultural Heritage: A Great Adventure' offers an immersive journey into traditional Hong Kong culture. Through these workshops, participants can get hands-on experience with precious intangible cultural heritage and appreciate the craftsmanship behind these traditional skills.
Program Details
We have invited several master artisans to teach these time-honored techniques:
- Jewelry Making Workshop: Learn to use gold-smithing tools to create carp-themed metal keychains or auspicious beast mobile phone holders.
- Net Weaving Workshop: Experience the technique of net weaving using colorful threads to create multipurpose small pouches.
- Wood Carving Workshop: Use wood carving tools to carve orchid patterns and unique designs onto wooden coasters.
- Mahjong Tile Crafting Workshop: Experience the intricate art of carving and coloring tiles with iconic Hong Kong motifs such as pineapple buns, milk tea, and sailing ships.
- Sugar Blowing Workshop: Learn the traditional sugar-blowing technique from masters and unleash your creativity to create your own unique sugar sculptures.
Ticketing & Registration
- Fee: Free of charge (Advance online registration required. If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, a public draw will be conducted).
- Registration Period: June 9, 2026, 12:00 PM to June 13, 2026, 12:00 PM.
- Key Dates: The public draw will be held on June 15, and successful applicants will be notified by email on or before June 22.

Important Notes
- Participants under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and share materials.
- Workshops are conducted in Cantonese. Please bring your own reusable bag and keep your belongings safe.
- Activities will be cancelled if Typhoon Signal No. 8 or higher, Black Rainstorm Warning, or 'Extreme Conditions' are in effect 3 hours before the session starts.
Venue & Access
The venue is located at Zone B, 1/F, Tseung Kwan O Plaza. It is easily accessible, and everyone is welcome to explore these traditional arts.
