Highlights

Since 2025, the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) Chamber Orchestra has held an annual concert, actively participating in both local and international events. Marking a significant milestone, this year's Anniversary Concert will be fully open to the public for the first time. Titled "序" (Overture/Beginning), the concert symbolizes the start of a new chapter and the concept of gathering, inviting music lovers to witness the orchestra's evolution.

Program

The concert program is designed to bridge Eastern and Western musical traditions, showcasing the borderless appeal of art:

  • "Rhapsody in Blue": Performed with keyboard principal Leaf Pang-wan, featuring rich jazz influences.
  • "Danzón No. 2": Capturing the nostalgic and joyful atmosphere of Mexican music.
  • "Yao Dance": A vivid portrayal of grand Eastern festivities.

This concert also fosters inter-university collaboration, as the orchestra joins forces with The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra. Together, they will guide the audience through a musical time tunnel: from Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet" Fantasy Overture to the modern film score "The Cowboys Overture" by John Williams.

Venue & Access

The concert will take place at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium. As the venue does not provide public parking, we strongly recommend that audience members utilize public transportation.

Ticketing

The event is free of charge with online registration required. Please take note of the following rules:

  • The concert starts at 7:30 PM; early arrival 15 minutes before start is recommended.
  • Children under 6 are not admitted.
  • Photography, recording, and eating are strictly prohibited inside the auditorium.
