Overview

'Titus 2.0' is a reimagining of Shakespeare's most visceral revenge tragedy, 'Titus Andronicus'. Since its premiere in 2009, it has been celebrated as a cornerstone of Hong Kong's contemporary theatre scene, having subsequently toured across six cities in Europe and Asia. Director Tang Shu-wing utilizes bold contemporary techniques and physical theatre to transform the brutal narrative of 'an eye for an eye' into a sensory-rich performance experience.

Highlights

The production pares theatre down to its core, discarding elaborate staging in favor of a minimalist approach: an empty space, stark lighting, and seven chairs. Seven performers oscillate between the roles of narrators and characters, employing rigorous physical training and improvisational experimentation to expose the depths of the human psyche. This performance invites the audience into a high-tension space, guiding them through a journey of introspection, awakening, and emotional catharsis.

Performers

Produced by Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio, the cast delivers a demanding collaborative performance that uncovers the non-verbal storytelling potential hidden within Shakespeare's text.

The performances will take place at the Rehearsal Room 1, Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon Cultural District. The venue is easily accessible via MTR; audiences can take the train to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station or Austin Station and walk to the destination.
