A Musical Comedy of Brotherhood and Bumps in the Road
Experience the debut of Lie-down Comedy, a special collaboration between seasoned performer Jim Hui and singer-songwriter Ng Yui-man as part of the inaugural WestK Cabaret Festival. This intimate production, staged at the Tea House Theatre of the Xiqu Centre, breaks down the "fourth wall" to present a raw, hilarious, and emotionally resonant look at life, failure, and friendship.
The Story Behind the Show
The performance serves as a "reunion" of sorts for two old friends who once aspired to conquer the performing arts world together. After a brief partnership that ended due to clashing paths, four years have passed—each taking their own direction. Now, they meet again to share their stories: one focused on music, the other on writing; one showered with awards, the other celebrating fatherhood.
Expect a show that oscillates between candid storytelling and musical numbers, where they "sing out the regrets" and "laugh at the absurdities." It is a night of vulnerability, revealing deep-seated secrets and shared memories, perfectly suited for anyone who has ever hit a crossroads in life.
Venue & Atmosphere
The Tea House Theatre provides the perfect backdrop for this cabaret experience. Designed to foster an intimate connection between artist and audience, the space allows for the relaxed, interactive, and often unpredictable nature of cabaret. Your ticket includes a complimentary drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), ensuring you can sip and savor as the performance unfolds.
