Established in 1995 by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, the ifva Independent Short Film and Video Media Competition has served as a cornerstone for nurturing film, animation, and media art talent across Asia for three decades. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the competition continues to encourage creators to challenge conventional boundaries and explore the infinite possibilities of creative media.

The competition features diverse categories, including:

• Short Film: Open, Youth, Tertiary, Asian New Force
• Animation: Animation Group, Tertiary Group
• AI Creation Category

Selected entries will be screened and exhibited during the 30th ifva Independent Short Film and Video Media Festival in 2026, with winners announced at the closing awards ceremony.

Application Details

Applications are open until 6:00 PM on June 21, 2026. Submissions must be made via the FilmFreeway platform. Participation in the Youth Category is free of charge, while other categories require an entry fee ranging from US$20 to US$50. For more information, please visit the official website.
