Live Animation: The Nutcracker and The Pastoral | Hong Kong Sinfonietta

Renowned French animation artist Grégoire Pont returns to Hong Kong to bring his signature "Live Animation" concept back to the stage, collaborating with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Pont draws in real-time alongside the orchestra, allowing music and brushstrokes to dance in perfect synchronicity, intertwining visual and auditory arts to breathe new life into classical masterpieces.

Program

The concert features two timeless orchestral classics: Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral" and excerpts from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker". Through Pont's imaginative lens, the serene beauty of the natural world and the enchanting wonder of the fairytale realm are brought to life through innovative, live-drawn visuals. This real-time dialogue between drawing and music adds a new dimension to classical storytelling. The performance also features live storytelling by the ever-witty Yuri Ng, guiding audiences of all ages on a fantastical adventure with the daring character Clara.

Venue & Access

The concert will be held at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall. Visitors can take the MTR to Central Station, and proceed from Exit J, walking through Chater Garden to reach City Hall. Alternatively, public buses or the tram to the City Hall stop are also convenient options.
