Overview
The legendary musical CATS is returning to Hong Kong, staged at the Grand Theatre of the Xiqu Centre in the West Kowloon Cultural District. Since its 1981 debut in London, this masterpiece by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on T.S. Eliot's 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats', has toured over 54 countries, establishing itself as a true icon of musical theatre history.
The story takes place on the night of the annual 'Jellicle Ball'. The Jellicle cats gather under the moonlight to await the decision of their wise and benevolent leader, Old Deuteronomy, who will choose one cat to be granted a new life. Throughout the evening, each cat shares their personal experiences and hopes, accompanied by unforgettable music, dynamic choreography, and stunning set designs.
Production Highlights
This production features a world-class creative team, including set designer John Napier, choreographer Gillian Lynne, and director Trevor Nunn. The performance will be in English with Chinese subtitles. The total running time is approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.
Venue & Access
The event will take place at the Grand Theatre, Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon Cultural District. Visitors can travel via MTR to Austin Station or Kowloon Station for direct access to the venue.
Ticketing
Tickets went on general sale starting March 26, 2026. Patrons may purchase tickets via Cityline or Klook.
