Highlights
"Small Creators — Summer Nature Art Exploration Class" is more than just a drawing workshop; it is a safe space for children to experiment, express themselves, and breathe freely. In an era where children are often expected to provide "standard answers," this course focuses on art as a medium for emotional expression and the cultivation of resilience. We aim to help children overcome the fear of failure, learn to turn "mistakes" into starting points for creativity, and enhance their self-confidence.
Program
The program consists of eight sessions, each designed as an independent creative experience. While participants may choose individual sessions, we encourage full-course participation for a more comprehensive journey. The curriculum includes:
- Experimental Drawing: Creative unlocking of daily objects
- Pattern Detective: Keen observation of textures
- Color Collector: Capturing colors from life and nature
- Who Am I?: Establishing self-identity through game-based painting
- What If I Make a Mistake?: Transforming frustration into resilience
- What Is a Big Tree?: Sensory and emotional connection with nature
- My Good Friend: Eco-recycling and storytelling skills
- Fiber Texture Painting: Realizing imagination through wool craft
Instructors
The course is led by Shirley (@lsmei.art), an illustrator, florist, and arts educator. Having grown up in an environment that prioritized standard answers, she understands the pressures that can stifle creativity. She is dedicated to helping children rediscover their expressive potential and teaching them that art is a practical way to bring ideas to life.
Venue & Access
The activities are held at "Luk Heung Commons," a public space dedicated to fostering community interaction and creativity, offering a unique environment for children to engage with nature.
