Program Overview

Sam Hui, the 'God of Songs', remains an irreplaceable figure in the history of Hong Kong popular music. A pioneer who defined an era, his works reflect the social realities, the voices of working-class citizens, humorous depictions of daily life, and touching ballads that have become part of the collective cultural memory of generations of Hong Kong people. Under the baton of conductor Chew Hee-chiat and joined by the Hong Kong Children's Choir, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra will present a symphonic tribute, reinterpreting these classic hits in four thematic chapters: 'Overture', 'Growing Up', 'Humorous', and 'Cinema'. Experience the grandeur of Chinese symphonic music as we revisit the laughter, tears, and spirit of Hong Kong's past.
