Highlights

Youth Square is dedicated to promoting diverse arts and culture and will host a special movie screening on July 11, 2026, presenting the film "Changan's Lychee," based on the acclaimed novel by Ma Boyong. This event provides a fantastic opportunity for the public to enjoy a thought-provoking film in a professional screening environment, exploring themes of historical satire, political intrigue, and the human condition.

Program

Set during the Tang Dynasty under the reign of Emperor Xuanzong, "Changan's Lychee" follows the story of Li Shande (played by Da Peng), a mid-level official who has finally saved enough to buy a home in Chang'an. His quiet life is suddenly upended when he is assigned an "impossible mission": to deliver fresh lychees from the distant Lingnan region to the capital. Failure means certain doom, while success promises status. Joined by the slave Lin Yinu (played by Terrance Lau) and the wealthy merchant Su Liang (played by Bai Ke), Li must navigate the dangerous waters of political bureaucracy. This film is a compelling mix of tension, adventure, and social commentary.
