Chinese Painting - Expression of the Soul

Highlights

Designed specifically for beginners eager to explore the art of Chinese painting, this course provides systematic instruction to guide students from the heart, utilizing traditional Chinese painting tools for creation. The curriculum covers the use of brush and ink, composition, and the establishment of style, with a special emphasis on encouraging students to combine seasonal themes to develop Chinese painting works with personal characteristics. The course is open to anyone aged 18 or above interested in ink art.

Program Introduction

This course is designed to open the door to learning Chinese painting for students. Moving from simple to complex, the course first introduces the characteristics and usage of the core tools of Chinese painting—the "Four Treasures of the Study" (paper, brush, ink, and ink stone). Subsequently, the instructor will demonstrate various Chinese painting techniques, including brushwork and stylistic analysis, to help students master the fundamentals of ink creation. The course emphasizes the expression of the soul, allowing students to integrate personal creativity and emotions into the foundation of traditional techniques to create unique works.
