[JC Intangible Cultural Heritage Education Programme] Tai Hang Community Cultural Guided Tour

This guided tour takes participants into the historic Tai Hang community to explore one of Hong Kong's most iconic Mid-Autumn cultural traditions: the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance. Combining historical exploration and oral history, this event offers the public a firsthand experience of the charm and cultural significance of this National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Program

The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance carries the historical memory of residents seeking well-being and warding off disease, making it one of Hong Kong's most representative folk customs. The tour will guide participants through key landmarks including the Tai Hang Nullah, Fire Dragon Path, Wun Sha Street, and Lin Fa Kung Temple. Dr. Sze Chi-ming, Council Member of the Hong Kong Historical Society, will detail the community's evolution. Additionally, Mr. Cheung Kwok-ho ("Ho Gor"), Commander-in-Chief of the Tai Hang Fire Dragon, will join as a special guest to share stories about the cultural inheritance of the fire dragon, providing deep insights into the legacy and future of this traditional practice in modern society.
