King-ing Together in the Small Town: A Reading Theatre Tribute

Overview

The Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies, Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, and Chung Ying Theatre Company join forces to present "King-ing Together in the Small Town," a reading theatre tribute to the legendary theatre master Dr. Chung King-fai (King Sir). Through poignant readings of excerpts from classic plays and shared reminiscences by his stage collaborators, the event honors King Sir's immense contributions to the local arts scene.

Program Highlights

1. Our Town

Presented by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, this production reflects on the 1982 version directed and edited by Dr. Chung King-fai. It explores the profound meanings of love, marriage, and life through everyday occurrences. Reading Director: Chan Kan-kan. Cast: Chow Chi-fai, Ko Hon-man, Pang Hang-ying, Yu Hon-ting, Kwok Ching-man, Ting Tung-yan, Poon Tai-ming, Wong Hiu-yee, Luk Ka-ki, Cheung Yim.

2. On Golden Pond

Presented by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies. The story follows retired professor Norman and his wife Ethel, who welcome their daughter's family to their summer home. The play explores family reconciliation and the acceptance of life's transitions. Reading Director: Fung Luk-tak. Cast: Fung Luk-tak, Au Ka-man, Lo Koon-lan, Lau Shek-yin, Cheung Yue-tung.

3. Tuesdays with Morrie

Presented by Chung Ying Theatre Company. A touching story about a sports reporter reconnecting with his dying professor, rediscovering the meaning of life through their Tuesday visits. Cast: Cheung Ho-kin, Lo Chi-sin.

A deposit of HK$250 is required per person to secure a seat. The deposit will be automatically refunded to the payment account within 6 to 8 weeks after attending the event. No refund will be provided for no-shows. Any processing fees incurred during the deposit payment are non-refundable.
