Course Overview The Hong Kong Repertory Theatre Education Centre presents "Drama Training: The Sounds in the Cemetery," a six-session directing masterclass. This course invites participants to explore the art of directing through the lens of Spoon River Anthology. By analyzing literary texts, students will learn to translate artistic vision into tangible "stage events" through adaptation, rehearsal, and stage composition. ## Key Highlights * Deep Textual Analysis: Using Spoon River Anthology as a foundation, participants will explore the action behind the poetry, translating emotions into concrete character dynamics and actions. * Practical Creation: Experience the step-by-step formation of short scenes, from text reading and adaptation to rehearsal and staging. * Directing Techniques: Learn how to guide actors, inspire creativity, and develop stage content from improvisation. * Collaborative Learning: Through group exercises, students will rotate between roles—director, actor, and observer—to gain a comprehensive understanding of the collaborative process in theatre. ## Course Curriculum The course is structured over six sessions: 1. Textual Voice: Feeling and translating the text. 2. Character Realization: Guiding actors in interpreting text. 3. Adaptation: Transforming poetry into drama. 4. Stage Aesthetics: Space composition and scene design. 5. Creation & Rehearsal: Practical application from concept to the rehearsal room (Sessions 5 & 6). ## Application Information This course is designed for individuals aged 16 and above, including beginners and theatre practitioners interested in directing, text adaptation, and stage aesthetics. The course is conducted in Cantonese. Places are limited; early registration is encouraged.
