Program Overview
The "i-Experiment 'Battle' Dance Stage" (One Night Sesh) is a key experimental project of the "i-Dance Festival (HK) 2026", designed to shatter the conventions of traditional dance battles. This event uses the five senses as its primary catalyst; participants must react instantaneously to a series of tasks, using their bodies to respond to various sounds, textures, and spatial dimensions.
Unlike traditional competitions that rely on standard street dance beats, the soundscape here is highly experimental and unpredictable. Elements may include rhythm, environmental noise, language, or complete silence. Dancers must capture cues from these sounds or confront them to create immediate, authentic physical responses. It is a true test of intuition, reaction time, imagination, and bodily judgment.

We have invited distinguished professionals from the dance industry to evaluate the performances:
- Helen Lai: Renowned Hong Kong Choreographer
- Siu Si: Senior Street Dance Dancer and Instructor
- Ma Choi-wo: Artistic Director of "Y-Space" and the i-Dance Festival
Live Music
The event will be accompanied by live music from artists Lau Hiu-kong, Chan Wai-yip, and Chan Ting-cheung, who will construct unique sonic landscapes for the participants.
Awards
To recognize exceptional improvisational talent, the following prizes are available:
- Champion: HKD 800 cash, a 10-class workshop pass (30 hours, value HKD 3,800), i-Dance Festival full-access pass (value HKD 2,240), and 10 hours of rehearsal studio time (value HKD 3,300).
- Audience Favorite Award: HKD 500 cash, i-Dance Festival full-access pass (value HKD 2,240), and 8 hours of rehearsal studio time (value HKD 1,980).
Participation Details
- Eligibility: Open to independent creators and freelance choreographers from Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, Taiwan, and international regions.
- Age Requirement: Participants must be 13 years old or older. Participants under 18 must provide a consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian.
- Note: The event will be recorded; "Y-Space" reserves the right to use such materials. All rules are subject to the final announcement by the organizers.
