The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts School of Dance Fall Performances

Program Overview

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) School of Dance, in partnership with the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts, proudly presents its annual Fall Performances. This vibrant showcase highlights the exceptional talents of the Academy’s students, presenting a diverse repertoire that bridges the gap between classical tradition and contemporary innovation.

Highlights

This year's program features three distinct works:

• Sylvia Suite: Choreographed by Ou Lu, this ballet piece showcases the impeccable technique and emotional depth of the Academy’s dance students, celebrating the elegance of classical ballet.
• Drum, Way, Journey: A rhythmic and physical collaboration choreographed by Yu Bi-yan and Li Zhang-liang. This piece explores the intersections of cultural heritage and the vitality of human movement through compelling percussion.
• The Calling: A new contemporary dance work by resident artist Oliver Sayer. This evocative piece is set against the backdrop of 1970s Wan Chai, reinterpreting traditional local water ghost folklore through a modern lens, offering a haunting and immersive experience.
