On & On STEPS Artist Residency Program – Progress Sharing

Overview

On & On Theatre Workshop uses the Cattle Depot Theatre as a hub for its "STEPS Artist Residency Program." Over three months, four groups of "STEP-ERS" have dedicated themselves to gathering non-fiction materials from their own lives and fieldwork, fostering a collaborative environment to challenge their creative perspectives. This progress sharing event features four developmental works that highlight societal awareness and innovative thinking over two weekends.

Program

Series 1 (24-25 Oct)

• Lullaby from Afar — Mooring (Lai Hoi-ying, Wu Siu-man, Cheng Man-na): Explores how bodies connect with changing environments. Through improvised physical dialogue, the creators examine the deep ties between individuals and the shifting land.
• Declaration of Sunrise: Practice of Non-compliance (Cheng Kam-yiu, Leung Ching-sum, Lam Hau-yan): Creators face the hidden rules within families and rehearsal rooms, practicing the courage to redefine boundaries and reject conformity. (Note: This performance contains adult themes, sexual violence, and profanity; restricted to ages 16 and up.)

Series 2 (31 Oct - 1 Nov)

• The Screws are Loose and Rusty (Tsui Ka-chun, Leung Song-lam): Inspired by an aircraft theft incident in the U.S., this piece adopts a reporter's perspective to address contemporary psychological desires to be understood amidst anxiety and nihilism.
• Laugh/Forget/Laugh/Forget/Laugh/Forget Book (Yuen Shek-him, Wong Mei-ling, Lai Chak-ming, Chung Hiu-ki, Ip Yun-sum, Pak Tsz-hin): Centered on the story of a heartbroken young person traveling north for entertainment, this work incorporates "happiness testing" to question the distance between consumer-defined pleasure and true happiness.

The venue is the "Cattle Depot Theatre," located at Cattle Depot Artist Village, 63 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon.

Ticketing

• Standard Ticket: HK$120
• Package Deal: HKD 200 for one ticket to each of two different shows in the same transaction.
• Important Notes: Each program is approximately 3 hours long, including two performances, an intermission, and a post-show talk. Seating is not assigned.
