Highlights
"Breathing and Flow: Tai Chi x Body Exploration Workshop" is a highlight of the "Taste・Move Dance Festival 2026," led by the experienced instructor Cheng Wai-bun. This workshop is designed to guide participants into a state of unity between mind and body, utilizing the fundamental footwork, hand techniques, and core breathing practices of Tai Chi. Beyond being a martial art, Tai Chi serves as a form of dynamic meditation that effectively improves physical coordination, balance, and flexibility, while helping to alleviate stress and cultivate internal focus and tranquility in a busy world.
Program
The workshop will introduce the "Eight Methods and Five Steps" (Ba Fa Wu Bu) of Tai Chi in an accessible way. Through the concept of "using intention to lead Qi, and Qi to guide the body," participants will learn to perceive the rhythm of their breath during movement, incorporating a sense of flow into their bodies and experiencing a unique process of physical awareness. Whether you have a martial arts background or not, you will explore the subtle connection between the body and breath under the guidance of Cheng, finding your own rhythm of flow.
Performers / Instructors
This workshop is presented by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance and facilitated by instructor Cheng Wai-bun, who possesses over 28 years of extensive experience in martial arts, Tai Chi, and dance instruction. With his deep interdisciplinary background, Cheng will guide participants through the secrets of achieving body-mind balance.
